Jamie Raid

Jamie Raid was born in 1947 in England and he is a British artist and anarchist .

His work, is made from letters which are cut out from newspaper  and makes an headlines in the rock/punk style. He was educated at John Ruskin Grammar School in Croydon and he also took part in a sit in at Croydon Art School.

Reid produced a series of screen prints in 1997, the twentieth anniversary of the birth of punk/rock music. Reid has also produced artwork for the world music fusion band Afro Celt Sound System.

Reid says: "There's always been a political side to my work from the late 60's to my recent involvement on the anti-war movement. But we are also immersed in beauty and magic- beauty is the greatest weapon we've got to change things".

It seems that the politics has been the greatets force behind Reid's work.
Using the vibrancy of green as the background colour and the rest black and white,it really brings forward the subject of the print as the green is giving power behind the text meaning the subject instantly jumps out at you in a threatening manner
